Kota Kinabalu's Lintasan Deasoka is set to host the Sabah edition of Karnival Hebatkan Perniagaan Malaysia from Oct. 23 to 25, bringing enterprise advice, local retail and entertainment into a three-day programme aimed at connecting entrepreneurs with business support.

The carnival is scheduled to run from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m., according to Astro Awani's Oct. 19 report. Sabah Chief Minister Hajiji Noor is expected to officiate at the opening ceremony on Oct. 25.

Announced activities include entrepreneurship townhalls, short Pocket Talk knowledge-sharing sessions and consultations on financing and training. The programme also includes Jualan MADANI sales organised through the Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Ministry, or KUSKOP.

Entertainment names listed for the event include XPDC, Velvet Aduk and Francis Landong, alongside Borneo Beat and a Malam Gema Rohani programme. The published account also mentions interactive activities and lucky draws. These are programme announcements ahead of the event, rather than a report of performances already held.

Targets Are Different From Results

The Daily Express reported in September that planning targeted 100 entrepreneurs and around 50,000 visitors. That account discussed possible venues while preparations were still underway. The Oct. 19 announcement identifies Lintasan Deasoka as the location.

A subsequent RTM report dated Oct. 20 retained the 50,000-visitor target. It described the fourth edition as a collaboration between KUSKOP and Sabah's Ministry of Industrial Development, Entrepreneurship and Transport, with a focus on the micro, small and medium enterprise ecosystem.

Those figures describe the organisers' intended scale. Actual attendance, completed sales and financing approved will require evidence after the carnival. Keeping them separate will make it easier to judge whether a busy public event has also delivered useful business outcomes.

Beyond A Single Consultation

The value of a business support event depends partly on what entrepreneurs can do with the information afterwards. A financing discussion can clarify a provider's requirements, while a training conversation can help identify a skills gap. Neither conversation automatically establishes that funding or a place on a course has been approved.

As wider context, KUSKOP agency INSKEN describes its role as developing entrepreneurs' capacity through training and coaching in cooperation with industry practitioners, professionals and government agencies. That ongoing support sits alongside the visibility and networking offered by a carnival.

Its published mini-coaching information, for example, covers marketing strategy, financial statements, financial records and preparation for tax filing. The criteria vary by programme: its finance coaching description asks for an established set of cash-flow records. These are examples from INSKEN's general offering, not a claim that every listed course will be provided at the Sabah event.

For visitors seeking practical support, a useful follow-up is to establish which agency or provider handles the issue, what documents are needed and what the next step involves. An owner trying to improve financial records may need different assistance from one seeking a new market or a financing product.

The carnival's combination of advice, retail and entertainment creates several reasons to attend. Its business purpose will be best assessed through the connections and subsequent actions it generates, while the immediate public details remain the announced venue, Oct. 23-25 dates and daily operating hours.

Entrepreneurs can make a consultation more specific by identifying the decision they are trying to make. A question about expanding production, for example, needs a clear account of current capacity and the intended market. A question about managing cash needs reliable records. These are practical ways to prepare for a discussion, rather than additional entry conditions announced for the carnival.

After the event, keeping track of the agency contacted and the agreed follow-up can help distinguish a useful business lead from a general expression of interest. That continuity is particularly relevant when several support providers are present in the same programme.
