Colours Of Malaysia Exhibition Brings Local And International Art To MaTiC Through October 24
The exhibition at MaTiC's Creative Space explores Malaysia's cultural diversity, while the centre's calendar lists related activities and upcoming programmes.
KUALA LUMPUR — An international art exhibition at the Malaysia Tourism Centre is continuing through Oct. 24, offering visitors a chance to explore Malaysian culture through work by artists from the country and abroad.
"Colours of Malaysia" is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at MaTiC's Creative Space, according to the centre's official exhibition notice. The exhibition began Oct. 1 and remains on the centre's October calendar.
The display brings an arts component to a venue that serves travellers looking for information about Malaysia. Its focus on cultural diversity gives visitors another way to engage with the country alongside conventional sightseeing.
MaTiC describes the exhibition as featuring Malaysian and international artists. Its public notice does not provide a full artist list, individual work descriptions or admission prices. Visitors seeking those details should check with the centre before making a special trip.
Exhibition Runs Beyond Its Opening Event
The centre's October calendar identifies Balai Seni Negara and the Malaysia Perak Art Society as organisers. It lists the exhibition's opening separately on Oct. 3, from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m., at the same Creative Space.
That distinction matters for visitors planning a visit in the second half of the month: the opening ceremony's date is separate from the exhibition's longer public run.
The wider calendar also lists a Life Design Studio craft booth in the lobby through Oct. 31, starting at 10 a.m. Traditional games, including congkak, dam aji and batu seremban, are scheduled at Astaka MaTiC over the same period.
Those activities occupy different parts of the complex. Visitors interested in combining them with the exhibition should check each programme's current arrangements rather than assuming a single booking covers everything.
After "Colours of Malaysia" ends, the calendar lists "Pameran Terpesona Dek Belacu" at Creative Space from Oct. 25 to 29, also between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. MaTiC cautions that its event schedules are subject to amendment.
An Arts Venue With A Longer History
The exhibition also connects with the site's earlier cultural role. According to MaTiC's published history, its main building once housed the National Art Gallery, which occupied the premises from 1958 to 1984 before moving to the former Majestic Hotel.
The original building was constructed in 1935 as a residence for mining and rubber estate businessman Eu Tong Sen. It later served military and government purposes before its development into a tourism complex.
Renovation work in 1988 included two additional pavilions. The Malaysia Tourist Information Complex opened to the public in mid-August 1989, and the name Malaysia Tourism Centre was adopted on Feb. 16, 2001.
For present-day visitors, that history adds context to an exhibition about the country's cultural identity. A trip to Creative Space places contemporary artistic interpretations of Malaysia within a complex that has itself served several different public roles.
